- Seventh day adventist -
So, what is a seventh day adventist? It is someone who is a member of the SDA church, which means seventh day adventist church, also spelled 7th day*. In the profile of SDA, there is a strong concern for health. Of course, anyone can choose that, also without being a member of the SDA church.
The SDA people describe them selves as christians, with a christian church and they surely want to be viewed as such. I will try to explain some issues about this, because SDA is not just a "christian" church among all the other more common yet different churches.
It is somewhat odd, that the SDA church wants to be considered as a fine good christian church because if they would be clear about what they really believe, at least officially stands for, then there will be another definition, by them selves.
The SDA church is not a church that tries to reach people with "we are the only truth"-methods. There might be exceptions on various places, but generally, the SDA church wants to use a kind-and-gentle attitude towards people. Which is fine.
However, when being well inside, and part of the SDA
community, the newcomer will realize the internal SDA view.
That is:
Seventh day adventist church:
The "only" "true" "remnant" church
That's another piece of cake... Yes, infact that is what they believe, at least officially. Believing being a remnant church means they believe they have a final God's mission in the world. Because of this, there are SDA members who believe that their church is above everything else, and that all other churches are part of you know what.
Not only this, nn SDA thology, most protestant elements with wesleyan and baptist influences are shared. However, these SDA beliefs are combined with other SDA doctrines, altogether forming the 28 fundamental beliefs, which altogether sum up what is expected from the SDA church members in terms of personal beliefs. Not a tiny bag afterall, and as in the link before, anyone can see that this is a major collection of pre-set beliefs. Hence, there is no or little room for other, own beliefs.
So lets take a look at some things in these 28 beliefs.
